Our Mission
To empower women and girls through education, economic resilience, and cultural inclusion, enabling them to lead dignified lives and contribute to sustainable community development.
Our Vision
A society where women and girls are confident, educated, and economically empowered, driving inclusive growth and resilience.
We Are Non Profit Organization
Faulu Tana Women Programme (FATWOP) is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (Reg. No. OP.218/051/2010/0490/6720), established in December 2010. Headquartered in Mombasa with coordination teams in Tana River County, we also operate across Kilifi, Kwale, and Lamu Counties.
We exist to empower women and girls, the most vulnerable members of our communities, through education, culture, and economic empowerment. By equipping girls with access to quality education and supporting women with sustainable livelihood opportunities, we aim to break cycles of poverty and create resilient, thriving communities.
FATWOP partners with both pastoral and farming communities to identify core challenges and co-create locally driven solutions. Our approach builds confidence, raises self-esteem, and empowers women to take charge of their futures: economically, socially, and culturally.
We also serve as a platform for networking and collaboration with civil society organizations at local, national, and international levels; sharing knowledge, mobilizing resources, and advocating for systemic change.
Welcome note from the Chairman
On behalf of the management of Faulu Tana Women Programme (FATWOP), I take this
opportunity to welcome you all to FATWOP’s web profile. FATWOP is a registered Non-Governmental Organization in Kenya, East Africa with offices in Nairobi and field offices in the Tana Delta area of the Coast Province.
The idea to set up FATWOP was as a result of many years of soul searching after having lived in the region and experienced firsthand the immense poverty and vulnerability of the woman population in the area, more so the girls most of whom are not able to access quality education so as to be able to realize their full potential in life and make meaningful contribution to the broader society.
It is in the light of the above that I developed a burden on what could be done at an individual level as well as by likeminded persons to assist even if in a modest way, the woman folk within this part of the country where I have become an integral member of the community by virtue of marriage. The start of the long journey has been fulfilling and eye opening hence I look forward to working with the local community in identifying short term and long-term interventions that will go a long way in addressing the challenges that the woman population faces in the Tana Area.
Thank you for your support in this worthy course.
